Virtual Consultation FAQ’s

DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

Starting from July 1, 2023, it is a requirement for all patients to have a referral before scheduling a consultation with a plastic surgeon. This applies to both in-person and virtual consultations. The referral serves as an important document that provides essential information about the patient’s medical history and allows the plastic surgeon to assess their condition and determine the most appropriate course of action.

Having a referral ensures that the patient receives appropriate care and allows the plastic surgeon to have a comprehensive understanding of the patient’s needs and expectations. It also helps in facilitating effective communication between the referring healthcare professional and the plastic surgeon, ensuring coordinated and cohesive care.

Obtaining a referral demonstrates a commitment to following established guidelines and protocols in the field of plastic surgery. It serves as a safeguard to prioritize patient safety and optimize the overall quality of care provided.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING BEFORE MY VIRTUAL CONSULT?

Prior to your virtual consultation with Dr Rubinstein, he may request that you take a series of photos and send them to him. These photos serve as a valuable visual tool that helps Dr Rubinstein assess your unique anatomy and better understand your desired changes or areas of concern.

By reviewing these photos, Dr Rubinstein can gain important insights into your specific needs and objectives for plastic surgery. This allows him to provide you with a more accurate assessment and personalized recommendations during your virtual consultation. It also helps facilitate effective communication and ensures that both you and Dr Rubinstein are on the same page regarding your aesthetic goals.

Please rest assured that any photos you provide will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and used solely for the purpose of evaluating your case and tailoring a personalized treatment plan for you. Dr Rubinstein’s goal is to provide you with the highest level of care and ensure that your virtual consultation is as informative and productive as possible.

WHEN CAN I HAVE SURGERY?

Starting from July 1st, 2023, there is a new policy in place to ensure optimal decision-making. In order to proceed with booking a surgery date, patients are required to have at least two consultations with Dr Rubinstein and his team, with at least one of them conducted in person. Following these consultations, a mandatory 7-day cooling-off period will be observed.

This cooling-off period is designed to allow patients ample time to carefully consider their options, review all the information provided, and make an informed decision regarding their surgical procedure. It serves as an important step to ensure that patients make the right choice for them and are fully prepared before moving forward with their chosen treatment.

At the end of the cooling-off period, patients will have the opportunity to schedule their surgery date based on their comfort level and readiness, as well as the surgeon’s availability. The implementation of this policy reflects our commitment to prioritising patient care, safety, and satisfaction throughout the entire surgical journey.

Tips on How to Get the Most out of Your Online Consultation

To make the most out of your online consultation, here are some helpful tips:

  • Research your procedure
    • Prior to your consultation, take the time to educate yourself about the procedure you are considering.
    • This will enable you to have a better understanding of the treatment, its potential outcomes, and any questions or concerns you may have.
  • Prepare a list of questions
    • Write down a list of questions you would like to discuss during the consultation.
    • This will ensure that all your queries are addressed and that you receive the information you need to make an informed decision.
  • Ensure a good internet connection
    • A stable and reliable internet connection is crucial for a smooth online consultation.
    • Make sure you are in an area with a strong signal. This will minimize disruptions or interruptions during the session.
  • Use a static camera
    • If you are using a webcam or mobile device for the consultation, it is best to keep the camera stable and stationary.
    • This allows for a clear and focused view of you during the conversation.
    • If using a mobile device, consider propping it up or using a mount to ensure stability.
  • Opt for a well-lit and quiet environment
    • Choose a well-lit area for your consultation, preferably with natural light or adequate artificial lighting.
    • Additionally, find a quiet space where you can comfortably engage in the conversation without distractions or background noise.
